Concluí a leitura deste livro que me foi oferecido pela Panmcmillan a 11 de Março de 2012. “Switched” merece, sem sombra de dúvida, a pontuação máxima: 5 estrelas!
Não é segredo que adoro livros YA que narrem essencialmente romances que envolvam criaturas do paranormal. Este insere-se no género e correspondeu às minhas expetativas, excedendo-as até, confesso. Quando li na sinopse que a história falava de um rapariga que supostamente tinha sido trocada, torci um pouco o nariz. No entanto, a troca acabou por fugir àquilo que eu imaginava que seria e revelou-se positiva.
Agradou-me o espírito forte de Wendy e a sua firmeza. É verdade que foi um pouco mimada pelo irmão e pela tia, refugiando-se sob a desculpa de que a mãe não a queria, o que fez com que nunca se esforçasse realmente por nada. Gostava que no segundo volume fosse obrigada a trabalhar mais arduamente. Bem, tendo em conta que este já saiu, só tenho mesmo que lê-lo, lol!
Fiquei um pouco indecisa quanto à personagem do Rhys. Não percebi bem se ele ficou a gostar de Wendy. E se sim, hum… não sei se me soa bem. Sei que não estão relacionados por laços de sangue, mas não deixava de ser uma relação esquisita.
O Finn é o rapaz dos sonhos de qualquer rapariga, e Tove é… um mistério, na realidade. As aparências iludem no que concerne a esta personagem que parece falar por enigmas. Cheguei a perguntar-se se seria o “partido” que estaria destinado a casar com Wendy, tendo em conta que provém das famílias mais ricas e serão igualmente poderosos. Só que o poder de Wendy mal se manifesta neste primeiro livro – gostava de ter lido um bocadinho mais sobre ele.
A rainha foi uma desilusão no que concerne à área afetuosa. Elora revelou-se uma pessoa (ups! Ela não gosta muito de “mänks”) fria. Parece que nem com a mãe biológica Wendy teve sorte…
Acho que parte dos Vittra podia ter sido melhor explorada. Ao fim ao cabo, acabam por ser quase que um acessório na história. Podiam ter aparecido mais, gerando mais situações de conflito. Mais informação sobre eles e os seus objetivos específicos também não faria mal.
Por último, deixo os parabéns à autora pelo elemento do sobrenatural escolhido. É sempre bom ler algo que difere dos habituais vampiros e lobisomens.

I finished reading this book offered to me by the Panmcmillan on March 11, 2012. "Switched" deserves, without a doubt, the highest score: 5 stars!
It’s no secret that I love YA books that are novels involving paranormal creatures. This fits into the genre and it was up to my expectations, even exceeding them, I confess. When I read in the synopsis that the story was about a girl who supposedly had been switched, I twisted my nose a little. However, the exchange eventually fled to what I imagined it would be, and it was positive.
I liked the strong spirit of Wendy and her steadfastness. She was indeed a bit spoiled by her brother and her aunt. Taking refuge under the excuse that her mother didn’t want her, she really never struggled for anything. I wished that in the second volume she was obliged to work harder. Well, given that this book is already out, I just have to read it, lol!
I was a little undecided about the character of Rhys. I don’t quite understand if he’s in love with Wendy. And if so, um... I don’t know if it sounds good. I know that they aren’t related by blood, but still it would be a weird relationship.
Finn is the dream of any girl, and Tove is... a mystery indeed. Appearances are deceiving in what comes to this character, who seems to speak in riddles. I even wondered if he would be the "catch" destined to marry Wendy, taking into account that he comes from one of the wealthiest families and they are supposedly equally powerful. Except the power of Wendy barely manifests itself in this first book – I would have liked to read a bit more about it.
The queen was a disappointment in the affections area. Elora has proved to be a person (oops! She’s not fond of "mänks") very cold. It seems that not even with the biological mother Wendy had much of luck.
I think the Vittra could have been better explored. In the end, they were just an accessory in the story. They could have appeared more, creating more conflict. More information about them and their specific goals also wouldn’t hurt.
Finally, I want to congratulate the author for the supernatural element chosen. It's always good to read something that differs from the usual vampires and werewolves.
